Qumu Releases Mobile App 2.0

San Bruno, CA – October 1, 2014 – Qumu (NASDAQ: QUMU), the leading business video platform provider, today announced the availability of their fully updated Qumu Mobile App 2.0. With mobility fast becoming a critical element of enterprise video, Qumu is extending its capabilities to address the broad reach of requirements for the modern workplace. Version 2.0 of the Qumu Mobile App, available for iOS, Android, and Windows devices, features an enhanced user experience encompassing numerous social elements related to video collaboration and communication. Qumu also continues to broaden partnerships with leading MDM/MAM platforms such as Good Technology.

The updated enterprise mobile video app features a revamped user interface, enhanced search and social facilities, and expanded security capabilities and partnerships.

“Corporations are stoking interest in enterprise streaming solutions that enable the distribution of video to mobile devices,” said Wainhouse Analyst Steve Vonder Haar. “It’s a task that’s harder than it sounds. With mobile, new challenges emerge in generating and managing content in the multiple video formats needed to ensure compatibility with a proliferating array of Android, iOS and Windows devices. Mobile adoption also creates a need for platform solutions that simplify the process of managing content, securing it from unauthorized viewers and optimizing the flow of video over constrained wireless networks.”

Mobile platforms must provide capabilities designed specifically for their environments while incorporating and capitalizing upon the power of their core video content management and delivery platforms. As such, additional improvements in the 2.0 app include movable, customizable display pods, a more intuitive navigation menu, and an improved player page experience so viewers can move between video, slides or a combination of the two with a simple push of a button.

Off-line viewing and policy-based control over video content on the device are also enabled through Secure Download, a new capability integrating key elements of Qumu’s Signal technology and core Video Control Center (VCC) architecture with the mobile app. Organizations can now easily control any scale of internal or external subscriptions to video content, enabling or restricting viewing as well as deletion of the content from devices based upon simple controls.

The Qumu Mobile App 2.0 supports both Qumu’s VCC 6 as well as VCC 7, with several enhancements that take specific advantage of improvements to VCC 7. This gives organizations the option to utilize the VCC version that best suits their needs. On either version of the platform, mobile users are able to watch, comment on and even upload videos simply, easily, and securely.

With many organizations aggressively expanding mobility capabilities and adopting Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) policies for employees as well as partner and customer devices, Qumu’s mobile apps offer the broadest range of OS compatibility for video creation viewing, and security. Through integration with enterprise mobility management solutions, Qumu is ensuring consistency with requirements and policies being established by organizations worldwide as they manage their own mobile deployments.

Beyond these features, Qumu has also focused on increasing the ease of customization by making it simple for organizations to brand and tailor the app through simple adjustments within the app itself. This adds to capabilities that enable customers and partners to integrate seamlessly between their existing IT investments and the mobile app via the updated Qumu SDK, which in turn will lead to exciting new video-enabled business applications.

“We’re continuing to invest in mobility because we recognize the growing role mobile video is playing in employee, partner and customer relationships,” said Qumu’s Executive Vice President and General Manager, Vern Hanzlik. “Our newest mobile app reflects our belief that mobile video should be easy to use anywhere, any time, on any device.”
