Qumu + Zoom: A Playbook for Running Virtual EventsExtending Zoom to Deliver Live Interactivity and Attendee Engagement

Given the changing enterprise communication landscape, organizations across the globe are transitioning traditionally in-person events to a virtual format. But as with their in-person counterparts, the success of a virtual event centers around three things: 1) a well-planned agenda filled with engaging content, 2) a seamless transfer of knowledge and 3) attendee engagement and interactivity.

What you are about to view is the on demand version of a virtual event that Qumu executed recently, using its own cloud-based Enterprise Video platform and Zoom—a popular video-conferencing front end. This event was historically hosted by Qumu as an annual in-person event in New York City, but given current world circumstances we decided to deliver the event virtually . . . and it was a huge success! This 3.5-hour virtual event included:

  • 13+ Remote Speakers and Presenters
  • A Multi-Continent Attendee Base
  • Live Q&A Sessions and Polling
  • An Expert User / Customer Panel
  • Event Hosting and Moderation
  • An Executive Keynote and Wrap Up
  • Device Independent Viewer Support
  • A Customized Viewer Portal
  • A 95% In-Session Attendee Retention Rate
  • Live Social Media Coverage
  • And More!

Another benefit of virtual events? They’re much less expensive.

The 2020 Qumu Summit was a huge success not only in terms of engagement and attendance, but also in terms of cost savings—for both Qumu and all of the customers who participated.

Prior to virtualizing the event, Qumu had tentatively committed to $49,020 in facilities fees to host the summit at an event center, plus nearly $1,200 in T&E per Qumu employee to attend and present.

And although there is never a fee for attending a Qumu Summit, our customers saved nearly $1,000 per employee in travel and hotel costs by participating virtually!
