6 Steps to Maximize Workplace Accessibility, Engagement, and Wellness

There is no question that we are all feeling dizzy and exhausted from the ups and downs we have been experiencing over the past 18 months.  Every time we feel things are going back to normal, here comes something else disturbing and causing chaos in our daily lives.  It is clear that this is the way things are going to be for the foreseeable future.

Be careful. Workplace stress is an occupational hazard

What can we do in order to bring some balanced chaos into our world?

More good news: You don’t actually have to take a test if you follow these simple guidelines. Here are some tips we can put into place to help us navigate and take care of our health and well-being:

  • Switch off. When it’s time to stop working, retrain your brain to shift out of “work” gear. Not doing so has been linked to anxiety, depression, emotional exhaustion, and fatigue.
  • Take Breaks. Go for a walk around the block, take in some fresh natural air. Get your legs moving.
  • Have fun. Stay connected with friends, family, and even co-workers.
  • Change course. It’s OK. Don’t beat yourself up when you shift and adjust because things are changing.
  • Talk it out. Tell others about your frustrations, do not keep it inside, people want to help you, but they cannot if you do not share how you are feeling.
  • Zen out. Create focus time and personal satisfaction moments. Use one of the many free meditation apps available. Take a moment to quiet your mind, relax, disconnect, and breathe.

What are the benefits of taking care of ourselves?

  • We take care of those around us and those we love
  • We show personal appreciation and gratitude for the things we do everyday
  • We recognize that we don’t need to be perfect
  • We are able to see clearer the beauty around us
