This is the second half of a two-part article on questions companies ask about the Qumu Cloud Free Trial. If you missed Part 1, make sure you check it out first.
In today’s cloud-based, Software as a Service-driven world, free trials are a common way for companies to test technologies in a relatively risk-free environment. But with many free trials offering limited functionality, throttled-down feature sets and even paywall restrictions, it’s difficult for businesses to answer the question “Will this free trial give me the information I need to make a buying decision?” So we’ve designed this article to answer that question for you—before you invest valuable time.
With the above in mind, we’ve assembled answers to the 10 most common questions we regularly receive about our Free Trial of Qumu Cloud. Today in Part 2 of the article we will address the final five:
- Does the Free Trial provide user analytics to evaluate results and behavior?
- Is there a limit on content viewers over the course of the trial period?
- How will my information be secured within the platform during the trial?
- Will the Free Trial impact my internal network?
- Can I use the Free Trial to publish video for both internal and external audiences?
We hope this two-part article will address all of your questions—but if not, please feel free to complete our Contact Us Form any time, and we’ll have a specialist contact you immediately.
Question #6 : Does the Free Trial provide user analytics to evaluate results and behavior?
Yes. Administrative users and event organizers can evaluate the effectiveness of each presentation easily with Qumu’s built-in reporting engine. This powerful but easy-to-use tool provides real-time engagement metrics and analytics—such as where people joined and exited the presentation, who asked questions and what types of end user systems they used—for on-demand and live presentations. Plus, with Qumu’s registration feature, you can track attendance and follow attendee usage or completion, which is a critical feature for mandatory training or compliance courses.
Question #7: Is there a limit on content viewers over the course of the trial period?
No. The Free Trial is a fully functional instance of Qumu Cloud, so it easily will support a typical number of trial users—ranging from a handful to a few dozen. Just keep in mind that the Free Trial doesn’t include intelligent delivery technology for streamlining video distribution, at scale, over internal networks. So if you plan on trying out Qumu Cloud with more than a few dozen live users, please be sure to contact us in advance so we can discuss a proof of concept (POC) to ensure your enterprise video solution starts with a well-designed network.
Question #8: How will my information be secured within the platform during the trial?
Because Qumu’s clients are among the largest financial, healthcare, telecommunications, professional services and manufacturing institutions in the world, security features within Qumu Cloud are extensive. Within our Free Trial we provide robust features allowing administrators to configure Qumu Cloud according to their corporate security standards. Free Trial participants also have a high degree of control over setting permission and admin levels, as well as workflow requirements for publishing processes. Access can be restricted by individual users, groups, IP ranges and more. Qumu Cloud also allows users to secure video streams and on-demand assets with a system generated URL, as well as username and password.
Question #9: Will the Free Trial impact my internal network?
No. Because Qumu Cloud is entirely cloud-based, users simply access live video streams and on-demand video through a browser or the Qumu View mobile app. So, for the purpose of testing our product features and capabilities—with up to a few dozen users—your Qumu Cloud free trial won’t negatively impact your network. However, if you want to test the ability of Qumu Cloud to handle live streaming video at scale—Qumu’s specialty—be sure and contact us to discuss a proof of concept plan!
Question #10: Can I use the Free Trial to publish video for both internal and external audiences?
Yes. The Qumu Cloud Free Trial offers companies multiple ways to publish and promote content among both wide external audiences and focused internal groups. With Qumu Cloud providing a secure and managed video repository—complete with customizable video portals—users can embed videos directly onto a website or intranet site, either as a link or by using one of Qumu’s widgets. In fact, many customers use SharePoint as their primary portal with all video invisibly served by Qumu Cloud behind the scenes. And, of course, depending on the permission settings of the video, you can also share videos via email or by using RSS feeds.
