[09:08 AM] Live Update: Digital Signage is Huge at ISE 2018

Check out this live video update from Qumu’s Stuart Hornsey on the show floor in front of a gigantic digital display. Digital signage is not only a big topic for the show, but also a major challenge for large enterprises looking to put more digital signage to work in their enterprise. That’s going to mean a crush of video over existing networks!

[Day 1: 01:36 PMCustomers Seeking Consistent Standardization and Experience Across the Globe

As Day 1 of ISE 2018 unfolded, Paul Herdman, Qumu VP of Sales EMEA, asked Will Hegan, AVI-SPL’s Director of Sales and Marketing – International, what major theme he’s hearing from booth visitors, ranging from integrators to large enterprise customers. “We’re seeing a push for standardization across the enterprise. They’re looking for deployment of the same standards and experience for users across the globe.”

[Day 1: 02:54 PMThe Dialog on the Show Floor

Wow, it’s tremendously difficult to pick only a handful of nuggets from the world’s largest AV event! But here are a few hot topics and insights:

  • Artificial Intelligence (AI)—facial recognition and other capabilities are driving smarter, more dynamic signage solutions, such as allowing retail customers to try out makeup and clothes “virtually” in the store.
  • Signs of Consolidation in Unified Communications—The UC Hall was clearly the busiest at the show. We’re starting to see some of the industry consolidation we’ve anticipated among vendors and integrators.
  • Not Just for Integrators—Just on Day 1 alone, we bumped into several of Qumu’s large enterprise clients tracking the latest trends in AV along with ideas for custom integrations of their own.
  • Inside/Outside the Firewall—As always, questions abound on the pros and cons of cloud versus on-premise or hybrid enterprise video solutions. For example, “Where is data being stored in a hybrid architecture?”
  • Video Conferencing in a Mobile World—Customers are asking about cost benefits of using smarter mobile and desktop devices compared with traditional video conferencing equipment.

Immediately following Qumu’s presentation on video communications and collaboration, the AVI-SPL team hosted a networking event for customers and integration partners. Topics ranged from hybrid cloud and on-premise video platforms to AI to global stock market gyrations.

Qumu’s Stuart Hornsey uses a drink in each hand to illustrate the advantages of a hybrid enterprise video platform.
