Forrester Research has released their 2013 Forrester Wave reports surveying video platforms. It’s telling that there are two reports – one analyzing Video Platforms for Enterprises and one analyzing Online Video Platforms.

The Forrester Wave: Video Platforms for the Enterprise report does an excellent job of cataloging the real-world factors and requirements that make video work for large businesses. You might be surprised at how different the requirements are for enterprise platforms compared to more general-use online video portals.

This points to something that is increasingly clear to organizations adopting video as a communication and collaboration tool: video is not like other data.

Integrating video into a business in a material way means much more than giving employees access to a portal. IT infrastructure, content management investments and social platform integration must all be considered.
