Bringing Secure Video Communication to Government Agencies
From 2011-2018 I co-founded a software company that helped public safety and other government agencies, from federal to local, collect critical data using the smart phones in the palm of their hands. In its infant stages, that data was in the form of textual notes. As digital assets became easier to create, notes evolved into audio recordings and photos, all the way through to an explosion of video. What’s that old saying? “If a picture is worth a thousand words, then a video is worth a million?” That became a game-changer to the first responders and soldiers we served.
The Future of Government Communications
The stark reality is that Governments around the globe, and at all levels, require highly secure, reliable, scalable systems to manage the growing volume of video. In some cases, many are just beginning their journey to leveraging cross-agency video platforms. Just the way CEO’s and executives leverage video to disseminate and lead company strategy, organizational announcements and town halls to drive interaction and alignment, so too is there a growing need for government administrators and leaders to do the same; particularly as many governments are operating in a hybrid environment, with employees and contractors distributed across vast global geographies and time zones. After all, driving employee and internal/external stakeholder alignment isn’t all that much different between large global companies and complex governmental environments.
How Qumu is Providing Secure Communication Options.
One of the biggest challenges governments face, in the adoption of such technology, is security policy, budget and human resources, we have a 17-year DNA of helping some of the world’s largest and complex enterprises, not only create and distribute video, but providing a secure and reliable platform for managing them. Good news: Qumu along with its partners, solve for such challenges. Qumu’s long-routed focus on data security and integrity, in-transit to at-rest, throughout the data lifecycle, builds confidence for the most sensitive workloads. From a budgetary perspective, customers realize a clear return on investment. From system design, implementation to onboarding, there’s a relentless focus on efficiency. Lastly, there exists a level of domain expertise that helps ensure the leveraging of a pool of human capital that provides the right resourcing to ensure a successful system roll-out.
Video and its overall implementation in such environments is not trivial. But living without it due to complexity, is not how you modernize, transform and move forward. Governments exist to serve their constituents. One thing is clear, effective agency administration, just like enterprise environments, thrives with secure video.
